Beyond the Grid: Building a Pinterest-Styled Custom Shopify Store for Why Look West

Why Look West, a modern contemporary Indian fashion label, wanted to challenge traditional grid layouts with a Pinterest-inspired Figma design. Translating asymmetrical columns, varied card heights, and editorial lifestyle blocks into a functional Shopify Liquid theme without layout shifts or performance degradation was a major technical hurdle.

We engineered a custom Shopify Liquid theme using lightweight CSS Columns for native masonry rendering. To prevent Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS), we extracted image aspect ratios server-side and pre-allocated box dimensions. We also built a slide-out cart drawer with dynamic bundle recommendation widgets to scale average order values.
